Exit 399- Alachua Development

If you’ve visited the I-75/ HWY 441 exchange in Alachua County recently, you know the area has certainly changed within the last few years. From new traffic lights to constant construction, this burgeoning area is getting ready for a new future filled with new retail locations and residents alike.

Within the past few years, this area has seen new businesses open up including a new VyStar Credit UnionEllianos Coffee Shop, Lowe’s Home Improvement and other smaller businesses. However, this is just the beginning as developers say they are just getting started.

What’s known as Alachua #HighPointCrossings will soon see new residential and commercial spaces being brought to this 127-acre area. The first phase of the High Point Crossing mixed-use development project will include a new site for the hotel Hampton by Hilton Inn just under 3 acres as well as the relevant infrastructure needed to support the project. The project is currently being funded through a public-private partnership between the City of Alachua and the developer, Alachua A One, LLC. In addition to the new hotel, the area will also see additional hospitality, residential, and commercial units to be decided in the future.

And it’s no wonder why this part of Alachua City is experiencing immense levels of growth. According to the #FloridaDepartmentOfTransportation, this particular intersection sees over 22,000 cars per day – making it an attractive location for potential businesses. In addition, with Santa Fe High School around the corner attracting future residents, this local area has developed the perfect formula for growth and development allowing them to experience a growth rate of 1.29% within the last year, nearly double that of the United States as a whole. 📢
